Guard of the week- Avella High School

This week guard of the week is....

Avella high school from Avella , Pennsylvania

I must say.. this is a very, very small group with 6 guard girls but, whether big or small, as long as your good at what you do, it really doesn't matter. This is probably also one of the craziest, fun spirited guards I've seen so far.

  One of the girls stated that the six of them are the best of friends and that they have sleepovers, movie nights, and more things together . THAT'S SOME GUARD FRIEND GOALS!!!!

 

Plus, they're really have some wild, cute, and fierce personalities

its obviously the blondie is sweet and the other is very silly

And this is miss Sasha FIERCE!!!

No matter what there just a big small awesome family  who want  to keep growing and growing in guard everyday !!!!

We here at IAGT just want to say thank you for the support and for liking, subscribing and following us. We will try to become more and more productive with this blog just like how we are with the Instagram. Also, this week we'll try to make changes to the page to add more content to look so it wouldn't just be like a post every day. Personally, I am excited and kind of sad because....we will turn into me in December. That's right, I  Alex smith will be controlling everything from this blog website to the Instagram and my friend Kristin will not be helping me anymore, due to the fact that she has a lot of things happening for her plus she will be studying abroad also. She ran the business part by checking stats, looking at who is following and not following, reminding me to post, correcting things, setting things, and finding apps for me to use, so she was very important! I'm glad I work with her and she is just awesome and I love her so much. she doesn't like to be in the lime light because she is just really shy around other people, so bare with us. Again, we thank you and we are excited for November to come so quick, we have other things planned before she leaves. so yea..............

Guard problems

everyone in guard has to deal with them or has dealt with them like for example...

Brenna's story

This is Brenna

 

 

This is one person who is defying gravities. She has literally broken all the rules by becoming the first ever drum major colorguard at her school. This is what she sent us.

 

 

"I started off just as anyone would, not knowing how to spin and thinking everything was crazy hard. And I dreamed of being a drum major, but I thought it was pretty unreachable, because no guard girl has ever been a drum major. But I still had hope. Sophomore year, I made it into the top 5 rifle spot. Then junior year, I made guard captain and had a decent year, and I figured well I am already captain, they probably won't want me as a drum major. Then audition time came around (I had to do twice as much because I auditioned for both drum major and captain) then they announced that I was a drum major, and this year we have had the most interaction between the guard and the drum majors. I am honored to be the first guard drum major in my city and at my school."

Guard of the week- Truman high school

This week's guard of the week is Truman high school. When we got this entry we saw what this guard girl had to say about her fellow teammates.



"Hi,
     So I love your account so much and I wanted to tell you a little bit about my guard. These 4 girls mean everything to me this year is all of our first year actually in guard and we're all super exited for winter guard to start! We've spent all summer together (well and with the marching band) and we all had to live with each other for a week at band camp .

 These four girls are some of the most amazing girls at guard that I've seen . And now for some words about our instructor , Jeremy ... He's bee doing color guard/ winter guard for 15 years ! So he's the best instructor we could ask for. He's taught us everything we know from , a simple drop spin to complicated toss's . This marching season he taught us the routine to all four songs witch is amazing . So color guard is kinda all our lives Thanks a lot for reading

BMBC 2015

Now, we all must know that guard is international. This week was the annual BMBC in  Indonesia and since i am a blogger of colorguard  I must show you what they did. unfortunately I could only find two videos, but they are two of some of the cleanest guards I have seen so definitely check this out

why we dress like we dress like we do!

 In the world of colorguard, the stranger the better. We dress can dress in something and make anything look good. I think we, as colorguard, can find every color and rock it. well, its in our name so lets do it!!!!!!!!!

what to do when going independent

here are some special tips for going to a independent for winterguard

10. be positive- Happy, great attitude will get you forward in the audition

9. don't get frustrated- The worst thing you can do is get mad at yourself!

8. practice everyday- Like everyone says, practice makes perfect!

7. stay focus eyes on the prize- Your trying to get a cast spot, don't be lazy all the time.

6. Don't compare yourself to someone else- I have been in a audition with not only a member of the Blue devils but, also a member of the cavaliers, phantom regiment, spirit of Atlanta, and the cadets but STILL got an position on the cast without being on a drum corps so, what that means is don't look at anyone else because you will do better.

5. never look at anyone else but the instructors to guide you- Instructors do it better! (obviously)

4. ask questions- Reminder, the one who ask questions is the one who succeed.

3. don't think for the worst- There have been people who would have a heart attack if they don't make it, its not that hard, all you have to do is give it your all.

2. keep trying- Once you slow it down, take your time,  you will get it!!!

1. APPRECIATE ANY POSITION- Remember, ANYONE IS REPLACIBLE!

Guard of the Week- Greenville High school

This is Greenville High School (in Greenville, Texas). They are a part of the Greenville Lion Pride Band and for Winterguard They call There selves the Lion Pride Guard. This guard, even though small, still strive for excellence. They recently went to competition in Commerce, TX and got straight ones. Also last Saturday at competition, they got straight ones again and got 6th place in finals! Then on Tuesday, they went to a real UIL competition and got straight ones again! So, they are advancing into the area and hope to make it to make it to the Texas State Marching contest!

                                   Plus, they look like a close knit family
