a lot of families have thanksgiving tradition but, a lot of people don't know about the band and colorguard tradition. when we were young every year pbs (the TV channel) use to show DCI each year on thanksgiving. Giving that it doesn't come on TV anymore we decided to bring it back on our website. So, here are some of our favorite DCI shows we saw this pass year

With a really talented group of girls, these girl really push hard to be the best they could be!!!
As a group they have won several awards that includes the following: best guard and Reitz, 2 overall grand champions, A 3rd place and 2 1st place in overall score, 2 best music, 6 best effects, and 4 best visuals( that's extremely a lot of awards one band and guard can win). Plus, one of there guard members is the drum major and she won 2 best drum major awards!!! #YAAAAAASSSSSSS
And, they seem ready for anything that comes there way. As you can see, they're another really awesome team working together like a really awesome group!!!!!
One of the viewers of the blog ask me to tell my story, so you know what........I am
I'm from new Orleans but I live in lake Charles, Louisiana. I really didn't do anything due to the fact that I had Blount's disease(the deformity is found at the top of the tibia, the larger of the two bones in the lower leg; the deformity occurs when the lateral (outer) side of the tibia continues growing while the medial (or inner) side of the bone does not; also called Blount's disorder or tibia Vera) so I was kind of over weight but was losing it after surgery during middle school. I found out about colorguard when I was in high school, I thought it was so hard and difficult and almost like an illusion so, I fell in love with it more. when it came down to auditions I was sweating bullets, I didn't know what to do, and I was afraid for my leg since the doctor said no sports at all and this is kind of a sport. When I did my audition, was in pain and really didn't want to do it no more ( obviously that didn't stop me). when I got my result I didn't make but something told me I am going to be on colorguard, so the next year when auditions were happening again, I did it. I was really not nervous until after when I got a blank stare from the judges. I was more than nervous I was actually afraid because the instructors look almost dead at me with a face of antagonizing judgement ( they did there jobs). next I felt like I didn't make it and for some reason I knew I didn't ........................................ but, I did make it and even kept going on to make rifle as well!!!! So this shows you that no matter what you can do anything as long as your dedicated!!!!
This Guard definitely wants to go above and Beyond!!!! Just last year they place 6th at grand Nationals, also this year, they were BOA and super regional champions.
while they're working hard during marching season, they're also working hard during winter guard season
There technique and style are overwhelming and Sharpe. Need I mention they can performed!!!!! You can tell how passionate they are with there performance !!!
Also, they can really dance!!!! I'm sure and positive that they go through practices striving for the best!!!!!!
All in all, this is one exquisite guard with a need for accomplishing goals, and I have to say they are really amazing and talented and Hopefully, they keep pushing there selves to the limit to go further and further!!!!
I've heard of a lot of thing happening with guard people from dropping, hitting someone with a rifle, dropping a single, and even having the instructor yell at someone. You can really name almost anything we have heard of it.......... except for one,
This is Kerry
She is from Brick memorial highschool
and her team really must be awesome because she to told us that she made her guard instructors cry after a performance
She sent us this
"So we had just came off the field from met life and when we did we put our equipment down and went to have a meeting then the whole team went to my instructors and they started to drown them selves in tears and then we took pictures and eventually it was time to recover awards and we were announced best color guard!!!!"
This is literally overwhelming so much its making me cry, but in actuality, you definitely deserve the praise you got because you and your team are so awesome!!!!!
I hope everyone is have the best veteran's day you ever had because today, I heard one of the most patriotic stories ever!!
this is Villa Rica high school from Villa Rica, GA
One of there colorguard members, Taylor, sent us this
"My name is Taylor and I go to Villa Rica High school in Villa Rica, Georgia. Our show this year was a show about the happiness, heartache, and war of the 60s. It was called 'The age of Aquarius; Decade of the 1960's'. Our first competition was in Alabama. We were in class AAAA and there was only one other band in our class. We performed our show and in the first part we are happy hippies and we dance and have flag work. In the second part we have our sabre line as protesting hippies and they have protesting signs and then we have 6 of 8 girls on our rifle line that are the 'army men' and the other two girls are flower child's that didn't get the memo of the war and we see a fight between the protestors and the army and the two flower child's turn to rifle and we also have flags in the back. In the third part the props we have switch pictures to JFK, his brother and MLK to show the assassinations of them. We also come out with swing flags. In the fourth song we have red flags and more rifle work with our sabre line. After that we pick up portraits of Vietnam veterans and we have the props come together to form the 'Vietnam memorial wall' come up on the props. We also have a mom and a daughter, who has a single white balloon, come out and look at the wall, and then a soldier come out and presents her with a folded flag and the daughter lets go of the balloon. We then come out with streamer flags. This was probably the best performance because when the portraits came out there were 30 veterans in the stands who stood at attention till the end of our show. It was so amazing."
We really thank to Taylor for sending us this sweet moment from her band season. Its so amazing how a band's show can show the upmost respect for veterans and era of war but, also the people who died in them. we are glad to definitely post this on our blog because we want to honor the falling and the living for fighting and joining the army.
On November 7th and 8th, WGI sport of the arts went to badminton Kuala Lumpur stadium and host the very FIRST annual WGI Malaysia colorguard and percussion circuit. In areas like Malaysia, Colorguard is mostly new and really popular now thanks to the perseverance of the sport. The percussion is just as amazing as their colorguard too. With their cultural style and performance to the it, Both the guards and drumlines have excelled over there expectations, making this the year for Malaysia winterguard.

Recently, I saw that there are not a lot of facts and statistic about colorguard, so I thought lets search this and lets see what is the truth
here is what I found......
Most colorguard people prefer rifle over sabre and flag because its more challenging than flag and its but its also easier on the hand than sabre.
Also, did you know that more and more men are joining colorguard whether gay or straight and yes, it maybe more gay men but still guys are more involved!!!!!!
this is not helping the stereotype
Also, colorguard is kind of rising thanks to people in colorguard on social networking sites such as punkrockirving and axfranco on Instagram and a wide number of people talking to others about guard and getting the sport of the arts out there.
this is @punkrockirving find him on Instagram
And more dancers are seeing the cool aspect of colorguard and are joining it plus, dance teachers are cooperating with it more in the dance world.
But, we are still not well known in house holds so...... lets start making guard know!!!!!
share these videos to a person that doesn't know about colorguard and ask them what they thought
also if you read this post, please comment done on our Instagram photo for this video we are trying to see how many are from Instagram and from the internet
Some of you may not know this but, winterguard season is near. For most of you it already stared and training has begun, so most you are excited and your amp up for this season. THIS IS WERE WE STOP YOUAND TELL YOU WHATS ABOUT DOWN!!! These are ten things to do for this season (please do not take this in offense because it's meant to be funny)
10. everyone will be doing some kind of sad song- literally, happens every year with almost every single winterguard. Lets spice things up a bit this year like the one song by the spice girls SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!!!! Like this show
9. please have some kind of theme to the show- If I had a show about circus and its called "its a circus", why would I have some reason to put anything but circus theme stuff or have the song not be anything like a circus. In other words, please don't be that one show that has no meaning to its name or to what it actually is about. do like this one
8. Don't just listen to mainstream music- There are many songs other than what's on mainstream, lets all try to find different music for guard
7. DO NOT USE THAT SONG BY ADELE-I KNOW, we all love it and Adele is queen!!!
I mean.............
BUT STILL, LETS NOT!!!!!
6. don't be motionless- I'm sure if you can move yo ur body, you can move your soul!
5. Look beat to the GODS- don't look like this
when you should look like this
5. Full Out Felicia (FOF)- don't waste my time get getting in front of an me and not full out... its embarrassing
4. Don't quit- seriously, don't be wasting everyone's time, money, and recording time on there camera for you to quit
