TOMORROW, the biggest events in colorguard history will go down. WGI Colorguard Championships will be going down this Thursday - Saturday, April 7-9 and I will be watching for every second with the WGI live stream. Today, I wanted to talk about what I'm super excited for that's about to go down this weekend.
(also its a continue from yesterday's blog)
5. social media
Everyone today is either on Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr. When WGI first introduce social media, I was really excited because there would more platforms to see them in, instead of online. Now, WGI has reach new heights including WGI Live stream webcast and many more ways to watch your favorite show or group.
4. Retreat
Retreat is just not were you meet up to get awards but you also share moments, meet new people and bond together with others over the sport of the arts. Its a great experience to see see but to be apart of...... SO AMAZING!
3. The Aftermath
Every year after WGI, teams gather up for the dance clinic, that is put on by the WGI staff. Each year, they have a special guest and this year Its no other than Choreographer from "So You Think You Can Dance" Sonya Tayeh.
2. Cotemporary Colors
Contemporary Colors is were you take the show that the guard has put on and instead of using the song they used , its replaced with live breathtaking music. This all started last year when Artist David Byrne got together the "crème de la crème" of The winterguard circuit and put them with some of the best indie artist. Last year feature performances by David Byrne, Nelly Furtado, How to Dress Well, Devonté Hynes, Money Mark + Ad-Rock, Zola Jesus, Lucius, Nico Muhly + Ira Glass, St. Vincent, and tUnE-yArDs! and this year, I'm not sure yet but I think one certain person will be coming back to the live event.
1. Everything Colorguard
No matter what either watching live, from webcast, or from social media, we all came together to enjoy one thing....... Colorguard
